I agree.
there are things you could never say,
only pray that the other understands the
unplanned emotions of the spotless
mind.
they stood with cold feet on your tongue
either prepared to run or to finally come undone.
mindless pauses, lingered silences-
a bit of courage was all that was needed
but only the fear of saying the wrong thing was heeded.
but these unspoken words are much too confusing,
coming out to the wrong person
at the wrong time.
they become a mime we must hold through
no matter how much it hurts.
these words become distances that we can’t cover,
calls we cannot pick up because we’re busy
and even busier to give back,
unreturned smiles,
surprise parties to one liner texts,
forgotten birthdays,
forgotten memories,
forgotten people.
these unspoken words are much too confusing,
never once knowing if we have said them
or not.
